ABOUT

Goals

The goal of Constructing Minds is to provide the Canadian Construction Industry with “Tools for Success” by providing experiential learning-based training.
In order to best support experiential learning-based training Constructing Minds
develops a manual filled with how-to’s, instructions, guides and spreadsheets. Our goal is that all participants leave the workshops with more tools in their toolbox so that they can return to the site and apply the applicable and relevant skills and knowledge that they have just learned.

Lee Kelly M.A.A.T.O., P.GSC
Founder & Principal

Lee’s construction career began on the drafting boards in an Architect’s office. There she learned a lot about the design perspective of construction but when she realized that Contractors had much more fun, she left the boards and put on her steel toed boots.

Lee has boots on the ground experience. With over 40 years of construction management experience under her belt Lee has gained extensive knowledge and a solid foundation in construction practices, processes and procedures. Lee has successfully delivered projects valued from $1.5mil to $305mil under a variety of contract delivery methods. Lee knows construction because she has built it.

Lee is connected. Over the years she has built strong relationships with key construction industry leaders including buyers of construction such as government agencies, hospitals and municipal Owners, subtrades and suppliers. Lee knows the right industry people.

Lee contributes to the construction industry.  She is a champion of the Canadian Construction Association Gold Seal program and volunteers her time as a Gold Seal Committee member, Gold Seal application reviewer and exam reviewer. In addition, she was an integral member of three Gold Seal sub-committees to create/re-evaluate the profiles and examinations for the Owner Construction Manager, Trade and General Contractor committees. Also, Lee is active in volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. Lee volunteers because she believes in giving back.

Lee presents regularly for the Canadian Construction Association, Construct Canada and Local Construction Associations and was recently awarded The Construction Institute of Canada (TCIC) Chancellor’s Award of Excellence. “The recipient of the Chancellor’s Award takes time away from their busy schedule to give back to the industry they serve so faithfully and goes above and beyond to help peers become more ethical, more knowledgeable and more professional industry practitioners.”

Lee’s enthusiasm for training makes her a highly informative, interactive and entertaining Trainer. Lee believes that education is an important part of growth within the industry.

Lee has earned certificates in “Teaching  and Training Adults” , “Instructional Design” and "Training Needs Analysis". She clearly understands the needs of the adult learner and enjoys training and mentoring others.

When Lee is not building something, she can be found happily hiking the back woods or paddling her sea kayak in the open waters of Canada.
